Why Graviton

If you’ve been paying attention, you’ll know that I love the AWS Graviton Processor. The AWS Graviton processor is a custom-designed processor by AWS designed to deliver the best price performance for cloud workloads. They are based on the ARM64/AARCH64 architecture, which is more efficient than the x86 architecture that is traditionally used in servers. This makes Graviton processors ideal for a wide range of workloads, including web applications, databases, and machine learning.

Cost Saving

AWS Graviton processors offer significant cost savings over x86-based processors. For example, AWS EC2 C7g instances powered by Graviton3 processors can deliver up to 25% better price performance than comparable x86-based instances. This means that you can get the same or better performance for less money by using Graviton-based instances.

Price Comparison for a 2 vCPUs 4.0 GiB RAM Instance (monthly, USD)

Instance Type Price Saving
S3 Yes No N/A
c6i.large Intel $81.0300 0%
c6a.large AMD $72.9270 10%
c6g.large Graviton $64.8240 20%

Sustainability

AWS Graviton processors are also more sustainable than x86-based processors. They consume less power, which reduces the amount of energy needed to run your workloads. This can help you reduce your carbon footprint and contribute to a more sustainable future.

Performance

In addition to cost savings and sustainability, AWS Graviton processors also offer excellent performance. They are designed to deliver high levels of throughput and low latency for a wide range of workloads. For example, AWS Graviton3 processors can deliver up to 2x higher floating-point performance than comparable x86-based processors. This makes them ideal for machine learning and other computationally intensive workloads.

The Uniqueness of AWS Graviton Processor

AWS Graviton processors are unique in several ways. First, they are the first cloud processors to be custom-designed by AWS. This allows AWS to optimize the processors for the specific needs of the cloud. Second, Graviton processors are based on the ARM64 architecture, which is more efficient than the x86 architecture that is traditionally used in servers. This makes Graviton processors ideal for a wide range of workloads, including web applications, databases, and machine learning. Third, AWS Graviton processors are designed to be more sustainable than x86-based processors. They consume less power, which reduces the amount of energy needed to run your workloads.

Why AWS Graviton Processor is Important

AWS Graviton processors are important for several reasons. First, they offer significant cost savings over x86-based processors. This can help businesses reduce their IT costs. Second, Graviton processors are more sustainable than x86-based processors. This can help businesses reduce their environmental impact. Third, Graviton processors offer excellent performance for a wide range of workloads. This can help businesses improve the performance of their applications.

Conclusion

AWS Graviton processors are a unique and important cloud processor that offers significant cost savings, sustainability, and performance. If you are looking to reduce your IT costs, improve the sustainability of your business, or improve the performance of your applications, then AWS Graviton processors are a great option.
